Transforming Industries With Light-Based Technologies

The Northern Ireland Photonics Innovation Cluster (NI-PIC) connects industry, government, and academia to drive economic growth, collaboration, technological advancement, and investment in photonics - one of the world’s fastest-growing technology sectors.

What is Photonics?

‘Photonics’ is the generation, manipulation, transmission, and detection of light. As a fundamental enabling technology, it underpins everything from smartphones to satellites, healthcare to energy, defence to agriculture, and more. Without photonics, there is no internet, no solar panels, no advanced medical imaging - and no modern economy.
